ITV is one of the five main national channels. The types
of programmes that would normally appear on this channel are family orientated which
are also part of the entertainment genre; programmes such as ‘XFactor’ or ‘The Jonathan
Ross show’. ITV is also very low brow.
Typical audience members for ITV would be young teenagers
to adults, both male and female who would come from average working class to
lower middle class families.
The main aims for the television channel would be to entertain
which fits into another intention which is to appeal to youth, so these aims complement
each other. Advertising revenue is an important objective as advertisements
fund the channel.
